Salix divergentistyla is a shrub or small tree from the willow genus (Salix) with narrow elliptical leaves that grow to be 3 to 4.5 centimeters long and 1.3 to 1.6 centimeters wide. It is native to Tibet, specifically in Zayü County, where it grows on mountain slopes and in valleys at an altitude of about 3400 meters. The branches of this species are brownish red and bare, and the leaves have a petiole about 6 millimeters long. The female catkins are 3.5 to 5.5 centimeters long and about 1 centimeter in diameter, and the fruits are about 5 millimeters long and have a hairy capsule. Salix divergentistyla belongs to the section Psilostigmatae in the family Salicaceae. It was first described in 1979 and has no known synonyms.
