Salix denticulata is a shrub or small tree that belongs to the Salicaceae family and is found exclusively in the Himalayan region. It can grow up to 6 meters in height and has downy shoots when young. The leaves are dull green, with toothed margins and are 3.5 by 1.2 to 2.2 centimeters in size. This species is dioecious, meaning it has separate male and female plants. The male catkins have yellow anthers and are 2.5 centimeters long, while the female catkins can grow up to 9 centimeters in length. Salix denticulata is native to central Asia, specifically Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, India, and certain Chinese provinces. It thrives in gullies and river valleys at an altitude of 2,500 meters. The plant blooms in April and May.
