Salix acutifolia, also known as Siberian violet-willow, is a deciduous shrub or tree native to Russia and eastern Asia. It can grow up to 10 meters tall and has deep purple shoots with white bloom. Its narrow leaves can reach up to 10 cm in length and its catkins appear in early spring. This species is dioecious, with male catkins being silvery with gold anthers and female catkins being green. The bark of older trees has a unique netted pattern. The male clone 'Blue Streak' has been recognized with the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Its name, acutifolia, refers to its sharp leaves.
