Oncoba spinosa, commonly known as the snuff-box tree, fried egg tree or fried-egg flower, is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree. It has simple leaves and white blossoms with a yellow centre resembling a fried egg. The fruit is hardshelled, globose and yellow to reddish-brown in colour. It is widely distributed along the eastern side of Africa as far as South Africa, and its northernmost limit is reached on the eastern side of the Red Sea in Arabia. It blooms from September to December.
