Hypericum tetrapetalum, also known as the fourpetal St. Johnswort, is a flowering plant in the St. John's wort family. It is native to the Southeastern United States and Cuba and was first described by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck in 1797. This perennial herb or small shrub grows up to 100 cm tall and has oblong to triangular-ovate leaves with heart-shaped bases. Its terminal flowerheads produce bright yellow flowers with four petals and about 100 stamens. It can be distinguished from a closely related species by its broader leaves with clasping bases. This plant is found in wet pinelands and ditches in sandy soil and produces flowers throughout most of the year. It is mainly found in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida in the United States, as well as in western Cuba.
