Hypericum maculatum, also known as imperforate St John's-wort or spotted St. Johnswort, is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant found in Europe and Western Asia. It can grow up to 60cm tall and has square stems without wings. The leaves are simple and opposite, with few or no translucent glands. The flowers are yellow and can reach up to 25mm in diameter. This species can hybridize with Hypericum perforatum to produce a hybrid known as Des Etang's St John's wort. In addition to its ornamental value, Hypericum maculatum has been traditionally used in Austrian medicine to treat a variety of health conditions, including skin disorders, respiratory issues, and infections.
