Manihot walkerae, also known as Walker's manihot, is a flowering plant in the spurge family that is native to Texas and Mexico. It was named after Thelma Ratcliff, who discovered it in 1942. This perennial herb or small shrub has an odor resembling hydrogen cyanide and has carrot-shaped roots and peltate leaves. It grows in xeric slopes and uplands under larger shrubs and trees. Due to its small population, it is considered critically imperiled and is protected in certain areas. It is closely related to cassava and has been studied for its potential to introduce valuable traits into the latter. Its tubers have a delayed postharvest deterioration, making it a valuable plant for cultivation.
