Croton macrostachyus is a deciduous tree native to the mountains of Sub-Saharan Africa. It can grow up to 30 meters tall and has a spreading, rounded crown. This species is found in various habitats such as evergreen forests, woodlands, and grasslands, and is often seen on rocky hillsides and in swamp forests. It serves as a food source for various insects and has many uses, including timber, agroforestry, medicine, and as an ornamental plant. Its wood is used for carpentry and fuel, while its leaves are used for mulch and green manure. The plant has medicinal properties and is used to treat various ailments. Despite its toxicity, it is still widely used for its medicinal benefits.
