This summary of Caryocar brasiliense, also known as pequi or "souari nut", describes the tree's growth and flowers, pollination by bats, moths, nocturnal wasps, ants, bees, hummingbirds, and small birds, and its edible fruits. The fruit is popular in some areas of Brazil, especially in Centerwestern Brazil, and is used in cooking and to flavor beverages. The tree is also important to indigenous people in Brazil's Cerrado region, and its conservation is important for pollinator habitat and rich yields of the valuable fruits.
