Mitrephora fragrans is a plant species found in Borneo and The Philippines, named after its large and fragrant flowers by American botanist Elmer Drew Merrill. It is a tree that can grow up to 8-10 meters tall, with leathery leaves and yellow to orange solitary flowers. The flowers have oval to oblong sepals, 5.5 by 4 centimeters outer petals with a hairy surface, and 3 centimeters long inner petals with purple highlights. It has numerous stamens and up to 10 carpels with 16-20 ovules. The plant's reproductive biology involves the shedding of permanent tetrads for pollen.
