Amianthium is a genus of perennial plants found in North America, known for its single species Amianthium muscitoxicum or "fly poison." The plant is toxic, with the bulb being the most poisonous part. It was used by American colonists to kill flies by mixing it with sugar. The plant is pollinated by beetles and belongs to the Melanthiaceae family. Molecular studies have resulted in some changes to its placement within the tribe Melanthieae. Other species of Amianthium have been placed in different genera.
