Lilium superbum, also known as Turk's cap lily, is a true lily species found in eastern and central regions of North America. It can grow up to 7 feet tall and has 3-7 blooms, with some exceptional specimens having up to 40 flowers on each stem. The color of the flowers can range from deep yellow to orange to reddish-orange. This plant is often found in wet conditions and is a food source for Native Americans. It is listed as endangered or threatened in some areas and is toxic to cats. The name "Turk's cap" comes from the shape of the flower petals, resembling a Turkish hat. In the past, the bulbs were used to make soups by Native Americans.
