Fritillaria liliacea, also known as the fragrant fritillary, is a threatened perennial plant found in the lily family. It is native to the region surrounding San Francisco Bay in California and is typically found in hilly grasslands at lower elevations. The plant produces bell-shaped white flowers with green stripes and can grow up to 37 centimeters tall. It prefers heavy soils and is often found in areas with andesitic and basaltic soils. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, this species has been considered for listing as a federally endangered species. Some remaining colonies are at risk of local extinction, making it a locally endangered species. Examples of its occurrence include Edgewood Park in San Mateo County and the Sonoma Mountains foothills in Sonoma County, while colonies in San Francisco have been lost due to urban development.
