Wilkiea longipes is a unique species of flowering plant that is found only in northern Queensland. It can grow as a shrub or small tree and has distinct elliptic to egg-shaped leaves. The plant produces male and female flowers on separate plants, with male flowers having 3 or 4 pairs of stamens and female flowers having 9 to 13 carpels. It typically grows to a height of 0.75-15 meters and blooms from November to May. This species was first described in 1870 and was later transferred to the Wilkiea genus in 2007. It is commonly found in rainforests and vine forests at altitudes ranging from 10 to 850 meters.
