Wilkiea kaarruana is a unique species of flowering plant that belongs to the Monimiaceae family and is only found in the northern region of Queensland. It can grow as a shrub or small tree with distinct elliptic to oblong leaves. The plant produces male and female flowers on separate plants, with male flowers having 2 pairs of stamens and female flowers having 21 to 26 carpels. It is typically found in mountainous rainforests in various national parks and river catchments in the far north of Queensland. This species was first described in 2011 and its name, kaarruana, is derived from the location where it was first discovered. Flowering occurs in October and November, but mature fruit has not been observed.
