Laurus azorica, also known as the Azores laurel or Macaronesian laurel, is a small evergreen tree found exclusively on the Azores island group in the North Atlantic. It can grow up to 15 meters in height and has fragrant, creamy white flowers and large, shiny dark green leaves. The tree is native to the Azores and is a major component of the laurisilva and high altitude juniper forests. It can also be found in various habitats such as lava flows, cultivated land, and coastal scrubland. Recently, there has been a taxonomic change and Laurus azorica is now only found in the Azores, while populations from other islands have been classified as a new species, Laurus novocanariensis.
