Cryptocarya caesia is a tree belonging to the Lauraceae family, found in Java Island and the Andaman Islands in Indonesia. It was first described by Blume in 1851 and later located by George King in Port Blair in 1884. The herbarium specimens collected by King were similar to Blume's collections, except for a glabrous midrib underneath. Due to the lack of fruits in Blume's specimen, King was unable to fully identify the Andaman specimen and noted it as a potential new species. In 1916, C. E. Parkinson reported this species from Long Island in the Andaman group, but there were no further records until 1990 when it was located by Mathew in the Mount Harriet National Park. This evergreen tree can grow up to 20 meters tall and is commonly found in the evergreen forests of Mount Harriet, near the rock Kala Pather at an altitude of 400 meters. Its branchlets have a rusty pubescence when young, and its inflorescences are rusty tomentose. The fruits are globose and approximately 6 millimeters in diameter.
