Summary: Buddleja stenostachya is a deciduous shrub native to Sichuan, China. It was discovered and introduced to cultivation in 1908 by Wilson and named by him and Rehder in 1913. There is some disagreement about its classification, with some considering it a variety of Buddleja crispa. The shrub can grow up to 3m in height and has oblong-lanceolate leaves covered in a dense white wool. Its inflorescences are slender panicles with lilac flowers and an orange throat. It is not commonly cultivated in the UK and North America, but can be found in the NCCPG National Collection and other gardens. It is hexaploid and can be found in commerce in the UK.
