Penstemon cyanocaulis, also known as bluestem penstemon or bluestem beardtongue, is a perennial plant in the plantain family. It is found in the Colorado Plateau and Canyonlands region of the southwestern United States. It grows up to 10-22 inches tall and has smooth stems with narrow leaves. From April to July, it produces dense clusters of blue to lavender-blue flowers on elongated stems. Its fruits are woody capsules. This plant can be found in various habitats, including blackbrush scrub and pinyon juniper woodland, up to 7,200 feet in elevation. Its name, which means "blue stem," refers to the color of its stems. It is pollinated by bees and other insects.
