Paulownia elongata is a species of tree native to Asia that belongs to the family Paulowniaceae. It has large, fuzzy leaves and is able to thrive in a wide range of environmental conditions, except for higher altitudes. This tree is commonly used as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks due to its attractive purple flowers and ability to tolerate shade. It is also grown for biofuel production, as it produces a large amount of biomass annually. Additionally, Paulownia elongata is used for lumber, particularly in North America and China, as it produces strong yet lightweight wood. Commercial plantations of this tree are typically established using selected clones from micropropagation, and it is known to grow up to 15 feet in its first year. Some proponents claim that it can reach a harvestable size in just five to seven years.
