Jasminum andamanicum is a rare and endangered species of wild ornamental plant that was first described in 1981 from two old collections made in the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal. These collections were made by Dr King's Collector in 1894 and C. E. Parkinson in 1914, and are currently housed at CAL and PBL. This species was not seen on the islands again until 1991 when it was rediscovered by Mathew and Abraham at Shoal Bay. It is an evergreen plant that is typically found in the lowland evergreen forests of the Andaman Islands, often growing along the edges of the forest where there is plenty of sunlight.
