Fraxinus anomala, also known as single-leaf ash, is a deciduous shrub or small tree found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It can grow up to five to six meters tall and has simple or compound leaves with oval-shaped to round leaflets. The flowers are nondescript and the fruit is a flat samara. This species is unique in the genus as some specimens have simple leaves instead of the typical pinnate leaves. It can be found in various habitats such as desert scrub and chaparral, and its range extends from Arizona to California, Nevada, and Wyoming.
