Vitex parviflora, also known as smallflower chastetree or molave tree, is a plant in the Verbenaceae family. It is native to Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, but can also be found in other parts of the world. The name "molave" comes from the Tagalog word for the tree and it is also known as tugas in Visayan languages. The wood from this tree, called molave wood, is highly valued for its durability and resistance to decay and termites. In the Philippines, it is a protected species and cutting its tree is illegal under certain conditions. It was previously listed as critically endangered, threatened, and vulnerable, but in 2019 it was reassessed and declared as least concern by the IUCN. However, it is still considered an invasive species in some areas, such as Guam and Hawaii, due to its naturalization.
