Salvia sagittata is a perennial plant found in the Andes Mountains, growing at high elevations. Its name comes from its arrow-shaped leaves. It was discovered in 1798 by two Spanish botanists who were searching for new medicinal and agricultural plants in Peru and Chile. In the wild, it can reach up to 7.5 feet tall, but in cultivation, it typically grows to 2.5 feet. The plant has yellow-green leaves with a rough upper surface and white hairs on the underside. Its inflorescences are sticky and can reach up to 2 feet in length. The flowers are a vibrant blue with a lower lip that spreads out and a pistil and two yellow stamens on the upper lip.
