Salvia muirii is a perennial shrub found in limited areas on the southern coast of South Africa. It was first discovered by Dr. John Muir, a Scottish physician and plant collector, and was named after him by botanist Harriet Margaret Louisa Bolus. This plant grows up to 2 feet tall and has small olive-green leaves that give off a medicinal scent when crushed. Its flowers are violet-blue and have a distinct white beeline on the lower lip. Salvia muirii is typically found in areas influenced by the Indian Ocean and at elevations between 200 and 1000 feet.
