Salvia disermas is a perennial shrub that is native to South Africa and can be found in various habitats such as streambeds, forests, and grasslands. It was originally known as rugosa but was later renamed to disermas. This plant is commonly found in West Africa, with a high concentration in South Africa. It is often used for medicinal purposes, such as making tea and treating sores. Salvia disermas is an evergreen plant that grows up to 2 feet in height and width, with multiple stems and inflorescences. Its flowers are small and range from icy white to pale mauve, and are held in a green calyx. Although the individual flowers may not be showy, the plant blooms profusely and is almost always in bloom. Its leaves are long and narrow, with a pleasant hay-like fragrance.
