Salvia bulleyana is a perennial plant found in the Yunnan province of China, growing at high elevations on hillsides. It has ovate to ovate-triangular leaves and produces 4 flowered verticillasters in loose racemes or panicles. The flowers are purple-blue and about 2 cm in size. This plant is often mistaken for another Yunnan Salvia, Salvia flava, and is commonly sold as such in Great Britain and the U.S. However, S. bulleyana can be distinguished by its purple-blue flowers without spotting, while S. flava has yellow to yellow-brown flowers with a purple spot on the lower lip.
