Prostanthera scutata is a small, compact shrub with densely hairy branches and elliptic to narrow elliptic leaves. It is endemic to Western Australia and has pale blue or faintly violet flowers. The plant was first described in 1964 and is found in the Avon Wheatbelt and Geraldton Sandplains regions. It is classified as "Priority Two" by the Western Australian Government due to its limited distribution and lack of information about its population.
