Prostanthera patens is a small shrub with stiff, spine-like, hairy branches, egg-shaped to broadly elliptic leaves, and red and orange to pale red flowers. It is endemic to Western Australia and typically grows to a height of 0.6-1m. The flowers bloom from August to October and are followed by green to maroon sepals and red petals. This plant is found in rocky areas near granite and ironstone in the Avon Wheatbelt, Murchison, and Yalgoo regions. It was first described in 1984 and is not considered threatened by the Government of Western Australia.
