Monardella purpurea, also known as Siskiyou monardella or serpentine monardella, is a flowering plant in the mint family. It is found in the mountains of northern California and southern Oregon, specifically in the Klamath Mountains. This plant can be found in various habitats such as rocky slopes, chaparral, woodlands, and montane forests, but it is most commonly found in serpentine soils. Monardella purpurea is a perennial herb with a purple stem that can reach up to 40 centimeters in height. Its leaves are arranged oppositely and are leathery and lance-shaped, growing up to 3 centimeters long. The flowers of this plant bloom in June to July and are pinkish purple in color, with narrow tubular shapes and pointed lobes. They grow in clusters surrounded by leathery purplish bracts. Monardella purpurea is a unique and beautiful plant that adds to the biodiversity of its native habitats.
