Callicarpa pedunculata, also known as velvet-leaf, is a shrub or small tree belonging to the Lamiaceae family. It is native to Queensland and New South Wales and can grow up to 3-4 meters in height. The plant has stalked stellate hairs on its twigs, petioles, and underside of the leaf blade, while the upper surface of the leaf has stellate and simple hairs. The leaves are 6-18 x 3-6 cm in size and have toothed margins. The inflorescences are 2-3 cm long and have purple or mauve flowers. The plant produces small, whitish to purple berries that are not suitable for human consumption. It is often grown as an ornamental shrub. Callicarpa pedunculata was first described by Robert Brown in 1810.
