Callicarpa bodinieri, also known as Bodinier's beautyberry, is a deciduous shrub native to West and Central China. It can grow up to 3 meters tall and 2.5 meters wide, with dark green leaves that turn red in the fall. In midsummer, it produces small lilac flowers in the leaf axils, but it is most prized for its clusters of small, decorative purple berries in the autumn. The plant is named after French missionary and botanist Émile-Marie Bodinier, who collected plants in China in the 19th century. The cultivar C. bodinieri var. giraldii 'Profusion' has been recognized by the Royal Horticultural Society with an Award of Garden Merit.
