Avicennia officinalis, also known as Indian mangrove, is a species of mangrove named after the Persian scientist Ibn Sina. It is a columnar tree that can reach up to 30 meters in height and has shiny green leaves and orange-yellow flowers. It is found in the eastern Indian Ocean to the western Pacific, along the shores of various countries. The tree is used by indigenous people for food and has been recorded in the book "The Useful Native Plants of Australia". Its taxonomy references include Linnaeus' "Species Plantarum" and the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature.
