Geranium arboreum, also known as Hawaiian red-flowered geranium or Hawaii red cranesbill, is a rare species endemic to the island of Maui in Hawaii. It was listed as an endangered species in 1992 due to its limited distribution and declining population. Like other Hawaiian geraniums, it is referred to as hinahina and nohoanu. This shrub can grow up to 4 meters tall and has green, toothed leaves. Its red or magenta flowers have a unique shape that suggests it is pollinated by birds. This plant is found in gulches on the slopes of the volcano Haleakalā, with only around 500 individuals remaining. The main threat to its survival is the destruction of its habitat by grazing cattle, feral pigs, and invasive plant species.
