Pyrostria revoluta, previously known as Scyphochlamys revoluta, is a flowering plant belonging to the Rubiaceae family. It is found on the island of Rodrigues in the Indian Ocean and an Outer island of Mauritius. Due to its restricted distribution, it was considered to be on the verge of extinction in 1989. However, efforts to conserve the species were successful, with seeds being sent to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and cuttings being taken to ensure its survival in cultivation. Pyrostria revoluta is a shrub or small tree with two distinct forms of leaves - juvenile and mature. It was first described in 1877 by Isaac Bayley Balfour during a scientific expedition to Rodrigues.
