Coprosma inopinata is a unique flowering plant belonging to the Rubiaceae family. Its name, which means "unexpected" in Latin, reflects the surprise of its discovery in 1989 on Lord Howe Island. This compact shrub has small green and purple flowers and fleshy orange fruits, and can reach up to 50 cm in height. It is only found on the summits of Mounts Lidgbird and Gower on Lord Howe Island, making it a rare and endemic species to the area. Its flowering season is from October to November.
