Gentianopsis holopetala, also known as Sierra fringed gentian or Sierra gentian, is a flowering plant in the gentian family. It is found in the Sierra Nevada and nearby mountains in California and Nevada, growing in wet meadows at elevations between 6000 to 11,000 feet. This plant can be either an annual or perennial herb, with stems ranging from a few centimeters to almost half a meter in length. Its leaves are mostly found at the base of the plant, but may also grow sparsely along the stem. The flowers of this plant are trumpet-shaped and can grow up to 5 centimeters long, with a narrow mouth and 4 lobes that are half the length of the tube. They come in shades of purple or blue and have longitudinal striping of varying shades. The throat of the flower may be white, and the 4 green sepals have a dark stripe. The fruit of this plant is a capsule containing several bumpy seeds.
