Anthocleista vogelii, also known as "Murderer's Mat" or "Cabbage Tree," is a rainforest tree found in several countries in Africa. It can grow up to 80 feet tall and has large leaves that can reach up to 14 inches long and 5 inches wide in adult trees. Juvenile trees are known for their enormous leaves, which can grow up to 7.5 feet long and 18 inches wide, with wavy edges and spaced nodes. These are the largest leaves of any African Dicot. The tree belongs to the Gentianaceae family and its name comes from the Ashanti language, although its significance is unclear.
