Strophanthus boivinii, also known as the wood shaving flower, is a plant species belonging to the Apocynaceae family. It is named after French explorer and plant collector Louis Hyacinthe Boivin. This deciduous shrub or small tree can grow up to 30 meters tall and has a diameter of 40 centimeters. Its flowers have a yellow-orange corolla tube that turns reddish-brown. This plant is native to Madagascar and can be found in deciduous forests and thickets at altitudes ranging from sea-level to 800 meters. In traditional medicine, Strophanthus boivinii is used to treat conditions such as gonorrhea, colic, wounds, and itches.
