Parsonsia straminea, also known as common silkpod or monkey rope, is a woody vine found in New South Wales and Queensland, Australia. It was first collected by botanist Robert Brown in 1804 and later reclassified by Ferdinand von Mueller in 1868. This vine can grow up to 20 meters long and has yellowish-green leaves and fragrant pale yellow flowers. It is commonly found in shady areas in rainforests and floodplains. The plant is important for the survival of caterpillars of the common crow and Cairns hamadryad butterflies. It can be grown in a variety of soil types and can be propagated through cuttings or layering.
