Parsonsia capsularis, also known as New Zealand jasmine or small flowered jasmine, is a climbing plant found only in New Zealand. It belongs to the dogbane family Apocynaceae and has several names in the Māori language. Despite its common name, it is not a true jasmine and is not part of the Jasminum genus. The plant was first described by Georg Forster in 1786 and later assigned to the genus Parsonsia by Robert Brown in 1809. The species name, capsularis, comes from the Latin word for small box or capsule, referring to the plant's fruit.
