Chonemorpha fragrans is a vigorous, evergreen, climbing shrub native to Southeast Asia. It produces scented, white flowers and large, shiny leaves. It is used in Ayurveda, and it is also cultivated mostly worldwide in frost-free places. It contains alkaloids including camptothecin, chonemorphine, and funtumafrine. It is found in temperate and tropical Asia, and prefers to grow in moist deciduous to semi-evergreen forests. It is propagated via seed or cuttings, and it is used in folk medicine to help treat various disorders. It is also cultivated for the fibre obtained from its stem, which is used to make fishing nets.
