Asclepias albicans, also known as whitestem milkweed or wax milkweed, is a species of milkweed native to the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts in California, Arizona, and Baja California. It is a tall, spindly shrub with stick-like branches covered in a waxy residue and woolly hairs. The leaves are short-lived and grow in whorls of three, while the inflorescence is a cluster of purple-tinted greenish flowers. This plant is an evergreen perennial and blooms throughout the year. It is a host for the larvae of monarch and queen butterflies. A similar species, A. subulata, can also be found in the same regions.
