Castanopsis pedunculata is a tree belonging to the Fagaceae family, known for its peduncle, which is a stem that supports the flowers and fruits. It can grow up to 25 meters tall and has a trunk diameter of 40 cm. The bark is brown and flaky, and the leaves are up to 14 cm long. This tree is found only in Borneo and thrives in lowland dipterocarp forests up to 300 meters in altitude. Its ovoid nuts can reach a length of 2 cm.
