Ostrya japonica, also called East Asian hophornbeam or Japanese hop-hornbeam, is a type of tree that can reach heights of up to 25 meters. It is found in Japan, Korea, and China, specifically in the temperate forests of southern Gansu, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, and Shaanxi provinces at elevations of 1,000 to 2,800 meters. In Japan, it is referred to as Asada.
