Xanthophyllum neglectum is a tree in the Polygalaceae family, with the specific epithet neglectum meaning "neglected". It can grow up to 20 meters tall with a trunk diameter of 20 centimeters. The bark is smooth and comes in shades of grey, greenish brown, or dark green. The flowers are white or yellowish and the fruits are round and greyish green, measuring up to 1 cm in diameter. This species is only found in Borneo and can be found in mixed dipterocarp or lower montane forests at altitudes ranging from sea-level to 600 meters.
