Vicia dennesiana is a species in the Fabaceae family that was named after George Edgar Dennes, a solicitor and plant collector. It is protected by the Bern Convention and was last found in the wild in 1848. It is now considered extinct in its natural habitat. The species was known to develop on the slopes of Serra da Tronqueira in Azores, but a landslide destroyed the population. It was also cultivated in the garden of Hewett Cottrell Watson, but most of the plants died in 1867 due to a late frost. After Watson's death, a specimen was transferred to the Royal Botanical Gardens of Kew, but unsuccessful propagation has led to the species only being preserved in herbarium specimens. These specimens can be found in various herbaria, including the Fielding-Druce Herbarium of Oxford University and the Kew Gardens Herbarium.
