It is a perennial herbaceous plant growing to 40–100 cm tall. The leaves are trifoliate, with three leaflets, each leaflet up to 8 cm long and 6 cm broad. The flowers are purple, produced in a dense spike up to 10 cm long.

Trifolium lupinaster is a species of flowering plant in the Fabaceae family native to Eastern Central Europe to Japan. It is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows up to 40-100 cm tall. The leaves are trifoliate, with three leaflets, each up to 8 cm long and 6 cm broad. The flowers are purple and are produced in a dense spike up to 10 cm long.
