Summary
Swainsona procumbens, commonly known as Broughton pea or swamp pea, is a perennial plant in the pea family (Fabaceae) native to Australia. It has smooth or sparsely hair stems that can grow up to 50 cm high, and pinnate leaves with 15-25 leaflets. The flowers are purple and the pod is narrow and 20-40 mm long. It is found on heavy, frequently water logged soils. It was first described as Cyclogyne procumbens by Ferdinand von Mueller in 1853, but was reassigned to the genus, Swainsona in 1859.
