Peltophorum pterocarpum, also known as copperpod, yellow-flamboyant, yellow flametree, yellow poinciana, or yellow-flame, is a deciduous tree native to tropical southeastern Asia. It can grow up to 25 meters tall and has bipinnate leaves with oval leaflets. The tree produces yellow flowers in large racemes and has red to black fruit containing seeds. It is commonly used as an ornamental tree in tropical regions and has various uses, such as cabinet-making and fodder crop. In India, it is often planted alongside Delonix regia to create a striking yellow and red effect. The tree is also known for its role in the Batukamma festival in Telangana State. In Indonesia, the tree is used to produce a brownish dye called sogan, which is used in batik cloth.
